Redondo Beach, California Defeats Luzon, Philippines 12-2

In game 12 of the 2019 Bronco-11 World Series (B11WS), Redondo Beach, California defeated Luzon, Philippines 12-2 in a six inning, 10 run rule shortened game. Travis Dulmage and Tanner Davison each powered Redondo Beach’s offense, collecting two RBI’s apiece. Davison also led Redondo Beach on the defensive side of the ball, allowing zero earned runs and striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched.


Luzon scored one run in the top of the first to open the game’s scoring. Aljun Tapia doubled to center field with two outs, scoring Laurence Valeros.


Redondo scored one run in the bottom of the first to tie the game at one. Robert Zimmerman grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Keijiro Hattori. 


Luzon scored another run in the top of the second to retake the lead. Amadeus Trozado grounded into a fielder’s choice, scoring Alfonso Alcantara.


Redondo Beach bounced back quickly, scoring four runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the game. With two outs, Hattori doubled to center field, scoring both Jamison Brack and John Hall. Dulmage then hit an infield single that scored Hattori. A fielding error allowed Dulmage to score Redondo Beach’s final run of the inning, giving them a 5-2 lead over the Luzon squad. 


Redondo Beach managed to add four more runs in the bottom of the third to expand its lead. Two defensive errors scored Robert Zimmerman and Eugene Guerrero for the first two runs of the inning. An RBI single to left field by Hall scored Eric Tani. After stealing second and third, Hall scored on a passed ball, giving Redondo Beach a 9-2 lead over Luzon. 


Redondo Beach plated two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the bottom of the sixth to secure the victory. Dulmage’s RBI single to center field scored Jonovan Talavera, opening the scoring for the fifth. The second run in the fifth came from a passed ball that allowed Hattori to score. Redondo Beach’s lone run in the sixth came from Tani’s single to center field that scored Guerrero, who tripled earlier in the inning. Tani’s RBI ended the game, giving Redondo Beach a 12-2 victory over Luzon. 


Redondo Beach advances to the championship game against Navojoa, Mexico at 6:00 p.m. ET/US on Monday, July 29 at Harry G. Daniel Park at Iron Bridge. Luzon ends its 2019 B11WS run after compiling a 2-2 record in the tournament.
